project 13 - anthology of a city

we have to use our time on our study trip to gather, generate, record, create, produce and correlate source material from the city we explored for one week only.

the work from everyone will be used to make a 'digital wall' that will be published online to coincide with the degree show.

the city i went to was Amsterdam

it was inspired by the beautiful blue and white pottery that i saw and loved, prostitution and food.

Project 12 - visual signifiers - an introduction to semiotics. the science of signs

Group project with Pippa and Alex

we worked in groups of three and whilst on our trip to Amsterdam we were asked to identify and produce visual signifiers for chosen subjects from a list of topics.

the words we chose as a group were:

violence

ritual

passion

consum

ption

finality

we decided to make a zine

we ended up giving it a rough homemade feel, printing our images on thin cartridge paper

i really liked our final piece, even though it was major rush at the end

I'm not a hoarder, I'm not, I'm not.

This is the story of a little girl called Polly who is obsessed with objects and junk. Here favourite ways to spend her time are going to carboots and watching re-run after re-run of steptoe and son. Polly dreams of one day owning her very own junk shop. Polly's not a hoarder.

Easter got me thinking about last year and how stressed I was doing my final major project for foundation.

my work consisted of fifteen a1 illustrated image sheets on card, which were then cut out and slotted into foam-board to create five 3d story sets.

I never really got any good pictures of my work, i tried to re-take some today of my image sheets but to be honest i'm pretty pants.

When i have some free time, i'm going to remake it and re-photograph it properly.

I also want to make it into a beautiful colouring book , with stickers and free crayons.

Ellie remains my muse.

I'm going to make some naff posters drawings of robbie and julia for my wall.
